Polynucleotides are an injectable, skin boosting and treatment that offers immediate and longer-term benefits including hydrating, plumping, and stimulating the skin’s own repair processes. They are taking the UK by storm but are not yet widely offered by all aesthetic clinics.
Polynucleotides are the latest revolutionary tools in regenerative medicine that work on a cellular level to repair tissue and boost skin quality.
In the form of polymerised polynucleotide-based injectable gels, polynucleotides work by stimulating fibroblasts which encourages cell turnover, improves elasticity, boosts collagen production and hydrates skin thanks to powerful wound-healing polymers.
Polynucleotides also calm inflammation and rebalance melanocyte activity to create an even and refreshed skin tone.
Polynucleotides can improve a whole host of skin concerns such as:
They can also rejuvenate the scalp (PLINEST HAIR), neck, décolletage, inner arms and thighs, knees and intimate area.
A polynucleotide is a sequence of nucleotides (building blocks of DNA and RNA). It is purified and freed from allergenic components like proteins.
Polynucleotides work by stimulating the metabolic activity of the fibroblastic cells (the major cells responsible for producing collagen), polynucleotides naturally maintain the physiological functionality of the dermis, enabling production of healthy collagen.
Polynucleotides are considered safe when administered by trained medical professionals. As with any medical procedure, there can be potential side effects or risks, which Nurse Heather will discuss during your consultation.
They are suitable for almost everyone! They are a great preventative treatment for younger skin and a rejuvenating treatment for older skin.
Contraindications
The most common areas of treatment include the eyes, face and neck and can also be used for the décolletage, hands, arms, knees and abdomen area where it would effectively treat skin laxity. The treatment is suitable for men and women as well as offering skin benefits for patients of all ages.
Polynucleotides can improve a whole host of skin concerns such as:
Polynucleotides requires minimal downtime. You may experience slight redness or swelling at the injection sites, but most patients can resume their within 24hrs. Possible side effects include swelling, bleeding, or, rarely, infections, which tend to be temporary. Any initial bumpiness post-injection usually subsides within hours.
The number of sessions can vary depending on your specific goals and the condition of your skin. Typically, a course of two to three treatments is recommended, with a 14 -21 day interval between sessions. It is then advisable to have a treatment every 6-9 months thereafter for maintenance.
Results from polynucleotides may become noticeable after the first treatment, but the full effects usually become more apparent a few weeks after completing the recommended treatment sessions
Everyone is different but the effects of polynucleotides can last for several months. Maintenance treatments are usually recommended every six to nine months to prolong the results.
Most patients report only minor discomfort during the polynucleotide procedure. Topical numbing agents are often applied before the treatment to ensure your comfort. The injections use very fine needles, making the process well-tolerated for many individuals.
